Xuan Liu

Born in 1990 in Beijing, China, Xuan Liu is a director and writer based in LA. Xuan came to the U.S. in 2009 to pursue a B.A. in Theater & Drama at Indiana University Bloomington. After graduating in 2013, he went on to earn a master's degree from New York University.

Xuan’s short film “Inseparables” was selected to the Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival in 2017. His first feature film “Bloom”, a China-US co-production, won the Grand Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Supporting Actor at 2021 Richmond International Film Festival. The film also won Best Narrative Feature at 2021 San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. In addition, the film was officially selected to 2021 Cinequest Film Festival, an Academy Award-qualifying film festival, where it was screened as a spotlight event film. In 2022, “Bloom” was acquired by Gravitas Ventures and distributed in North America.
